The name of this boat is “Apocalypse”. I kid you not. Her keel is embedded deep in the sand and she is heavily listing. I really wanted to name this painting for her, but I thought it might put off someone who loved the calm of this piece.
The image is inspired, with permission, by an aerial photo shot by OverTacoma.com. Chambers Bay is south of Tacoma, Washington, next to a golf course.
I enjoy the translucence of the water. It enlights the frontal lobe of my mind. This piece is first in a series I’m building of Puget Sound. I’m also inspired to find out who her owner of and if she's been recovered. We shall see.
Visualizing anything from above is something I’m good at since I spent a long time as an architect. It feels comfortable, like the language my mind used working through building floor plans in my mind. I like life from an aerial perspective.
The deep 1-1/2" museum mount edges of Stranded are painted as 3D extensions of the main image. Your piece arrives prewired, ready to hang.
